Frequently Asked Questions

What is The Big Bad Ball?

The Big Bad Ball is a black tie event being held on Saturday, October 1, 2011, 7 pm to 1 am, at the Capital City Club of Raleigh as a benefit for the Hospice of Wake County Benevolent Care Program and Horizons Grief Center. This is the 10th annual event!

What did we miss at last year's Big Bad Ball?

Nearly 300 attendees enjoyed an evening that raised nearly $100,000. Silent auction items, the $10,000 raffle and the amazing Fink's door prize of three exquisite John Hardy bracelets were all a hit.

What can I expect at BBB 2011?

Indulge yourself with different food sensations throughout the club and find your favorite beverages at five open bars. Dance the night away to two different bands playing everything from swing to contemporary, jazz and more. The Moonlighters Orchestra will kick off the party and play until 10 pm and then move into Cap's Pub as a delightful jazz trio. Raleigh's favorite band, tHE.DESIGN will rock the remainder of the night. All attendees are entered in the drawing for the valuable door prize donated by Fink's Jewelers. Bidding for silent auction items will keep you busy until the big raffle, giving ticket holders a chance to win $10,000 cash! And of course, all of this is surrounded by the penthouse view of Raleigh's skyline.

What do event tickets cost?

Through August 31, 2011, tickets for the Big Bad Ball are $100 per person and include one free raffle ticket ( $25 value). After August 31, tickets are $125 per person. Raffle tickets may be purchased separately at $25/each or 5/$100.

How will the proceeds benefit Hospice of Wake County?

Proceeds from the Big Bad Ball will be directed to supporting the Benevolent Care Program and Horizons Grief Center at Hospice of Wake County. As a non-profit organization, Hospice of Wake County was founded on the promise never to refuse care for any patient based on inability to pay. To fulfill that promise, Hospice of Wake County established and maintains a benevolent care fund, from which the cost of extending care to patients without means can be paid. Horizons Grief Center offers counseling, support groups, and workshops to children, teens, and adults who have experienced the pain of loss through death of a loved one, whether their loved one was served by Hospice of Wake County or not. This service is free of charge.
